BANKSY IMPOSTERS CASHING IN
When someone’s identity is illusive, or better still, unknown, how do you know whether you’re looking right at them?
Put in the context of the art world, the question on everyone’s minds is the same:
Has Banksy entered the NFT market?
Sales for Banksy inspired NFT artwork has topped $900,000 this year on OpenSea marketplace, including this clever spinoff of the well-known Banksy print, I can’t believe you morons actually buy this shit (2007).
Listed on Rarible by a mysterious artist called Pest Control, things are still a little blurred and confused.
Banksy’s authentication body was quick to quash the rumours, clarifying “there isn’t an affiliation in any way, shape or form” with the NFT series.
But that hasn’t stopped a treasure hunt.
Buyers are convinced Banksy will enter the market soon – and people will stop at nothing to land the first piece.
We are still yet to see any concrete evidence, but when there is, you’ll hear it here first.
